Finally got this from NCGS. This reference is a December 13, 1799 list of "persons who took an oath that they were prevented from voting for Duncan McFARLAND in an election in said county where alligations of impropriety were raised."
The only thing that helps with my research is this statement, ".....Forsook their native soil of Great Britain (North Britain or Scotland) & from the year 1782 until 1790 Emigrated into this State......." This tells us pretty definately that Duncan McQuage came to this country between 1782 and 1790. He is listed as No. 59 of 86.
I am still looking for any data on his parents, how he came to NC, and where he came from in Scotland.
