Howdy Michael,

You may already know the following, but from several of your messages that I've seen on various forums I'm not sure if you do, or not.

Both the Dockery and the Covington families of the Anson-Richmond-Marlboro region of the Carolinas, as do many of the families of this region, came to the Anson area from the "Eastern Shore of Maryland," more specifically, the area of Queen Anne's and Talbot Counties.

Among some of the other Anson area families from the "Eastern Shore" are: AULD, BROWN, CHAIRES, CURTIS, FARR, FIRTH, HAMER, KNOTTS, ROE, RATCLIFF/RATLIFF, and THOMAS. By no means is this list complete.

You'll find several interconnections with the above name families both in the Carolinas and back in Maryland. For example, RACHEL ROE, one of the daughters of the Quaker EDWARD ROE (d. 1748)(Son of John d. 1737 and grandson of Thomas (d. 1712), married HENRY COVINGTON (d. ca. 1766). Rachel's brother, JOHN ROE, died in Richmond County, NC leaving a will dated in 1783.

I believe I remember coming across a reference to Thomas Dockery, upon his arrival in the area presenting his "creditials" from his church back in Maryland to his new congregation in the Carolinas.

Hope this is helpful, Jay
