HI MARK! Well, it's only been a little over a year ago since I last wrote --- guess it's time I followed up, huh??! Sorry for delay! I'm about ready to find a male Watkins to do the dna testing! I took another look at the Watkins dna page, and I can't imagine that SOMEWHERE there, esp thru FTDNA, there wouldnt be someone who would be a Match with someone from my EDGECOMBE CO. NC WATKINS family (from the mid to late 1700s ancestors) .... As I told you before, I manage a WATKINS email list that is specifically for the EDGECOMBE CO. NC WATKINS FAMILY and related families -- our Watkins brothers (Mitchell (my line), and his brothers LEVIN (Duplin Co. State Senator in late 1700s/early 1800s), and brother PHILIP (went to ALA) were from Edgecombe Co - and my Mitchell Sr. went on to WASHINGTON CO. GA in 1797 with sevl other Edgec. Co. families - then a couple/few generations later, my Watkins line went on to WILKINSON CO. GA .... I will post the dna website info on my WatkinsRev email list (for "Revolutionary soldiers") and see if we can get one of them to volunteer to do the testing - maybe a few of us can help pay for it), and we'll see what we can do! I got my KEENE brother to do the testing thru FTDNA several mos. ago, thru the "Cain/Keen" project - it was well worth it (I paid for it) .. because I did get an answer I'd been wanting for years - we are NOT from a Keen famnily in NC some people thought we were, but I did not think we were! THANKS for any suggestions! TINA KEENE PEDDIE/CA |
