I am researching Thomas Whitehead/Whitted of Orange County, NC. Applying the custom of naming the first born son after the fathers father indicates that his father was Robert Whitehead. This same logic applied to William Whitted of Orange County would indicate that his father was named William and that William and Thomas Whitted of Orange County, NC., were not brothers. Taking this custom further in regard to Thomas Whitted, gives his older brother as William and possibly another brother named Joseph.

Male descendants of Thomas Whitted/Whitehead of Orange County: Robert b. abt 1774, John b. Nov 11, 1779, Thomas (my ancestor), b Mar 3, 1784, Joseph b abt 1789. Some records indicate another son but no other sons were named in Thomas's estate records.

A biography of one of Thomas Whitted/Whitehead's descendants indicate that the family moved from VA to the Orange County, NC area in the mid to late 1700's and that Thomas was with General Greene at the battle of Guilford Courthouse in the Rev. war. Another biography states that these Whiteheads were Welsh Quakers who "came over with William Penn".

Therefore i am looking for information on Robert Whitehead b. abt 1700 in Va. Had sons Thomas, William possibly Joseph. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anyone would like further information about the descendants of Thomas Whitted please contact me.
