Seeking origins of Nathaniel Reed, b. ca. 1720. Listed on Orange Co. NC tax list of 1752 with other Reeds named William, Owen, and John. Lived on Pole Cat Creek in that area of Orange that became Randolph Co. By 1774 he was in Surry Co., NC, and during the Revolution appears to have been in the exteme western part of NC. By 1785 most of his family had moved to Greenville Dist., SC where he d. ca. 1790. May have had brothers named Joseph, John, and Daniel. Known children include a son b. ca. 1750; Isaac, b. 1752; John, b. ca. 1754; William, b. 1756; Joseph, b. ca. 1758; Nathan, b. 1763; and Sarah, b. 1768. Records in SC indicate that some of his sons were saddle makers. Family seems to be associated with the Robbins/Robins, Griffiths, Boydston, and possibly the Isaacs.
