My sister is married to a Walter Lashley in Louisiana. His father was Buford, and grandfather was a Merritt Lashley born in 1830 in North Carolina(per 1870 census). He moved to Arkansas by 1860(per 1860 census) where 2 of his sons were born, Sidney and James M., then moved to Louisiana. The census doesn't specify the NC county where Merritt was born, but there might be some connection here. I found a submitter(lashle29@matrix.newpaltz.edu) on ancestry.com(I searched for Merritt Lashley)who has listed a Walter, Patrick, Walter, Sr., Walter, Jr, Lewis Lashley, then a Rial Lashley whose children include a Merritt Lashley---sounds like a match, but I haven't verified it yet.-----Gary/Illinois |
