Seeking information on the family and origins Margaret CORTNER b. abt. 1775 m. 1795 in Orange Co. NC to Benjamin THOMAS.

I believe that Margaret may be an older child of the mysterious David CORTNER (also recorded as COTNER and COURTNER). David was enumerated in the 1800 and 1810 Census of St. Asaph district in Orange Co. NC, which correspondes to present-day Alamance Co.

In 1800 his household structure was 11101-01101-01. I have reconstructed the following, =hypothetical= family from contemporary marriage records by attaching a number of CORTNER children who are the right ages and cannot be assigned to other CORTNER fathers in the area (i.e., George, Peter and Daniel of Guilford and Orange counties).

1 David Cortner b: Bef. 1755 poss. in PA, d: Aft. 1810 in Orange Co. NC
+Wife UNKNOWN b: Bef. 1755 d: Aft. 1810
2 Older Children (?) Cotner b: Bef. 1780
2 Peter (?) Cortner b: 1781
+Amelia (Emily) "Minty" Holt b: Abt. 1782 m: 31 Jan 1799 in Guilford Co. NC
2 Susannah (?) Cortner b: Abt. 1782
+David Linney b: Abt. 1777 m: 15 Sep 1802 in Orange Co. NC
2 Samuel (?) Cortner b: 1783-1785
+Jane "Jenny" (Shofner) Huphines b: 25 Aug 1787 d: 24 May 1864 bur. at Brick Church Cem., Guilford Co. NC m: 12 Mar 1808 in Orange Co. NC
2 Daughter-B (?) Cortner b: 1784-1790
2 Ludwick (?) Cotner b: Abt. 1791
+Polly Smith b: Abt. 1793 m: 20 May 1813 in Orange Co. NC
2 Rosanna (?) Courtner b: Aft. 1800
+Joseph Gifford b: Abt. 1794 m: 25 Aug 1819 in Orange Co. NC

I would be grateful for any information that would prove or disprove this hypothesis, or for additional information on the offspring of these children, or for leads to published or online sources that might shed additional light on this family. Thank you.
