I think you should be looking also at Welborn. William Welborn Jr. Survey dated 18 July 1761, 375 acres on McEntires Cr, waters Deep R,Isaac Starns, Charles Cagle, chain bearers. From Orange Co. Records, Vol. I, Abstracts of Loose Papers, Edited by William D.Bennett. There is also a Thomas Welborn... mentioned in survey dated 20 July 1760. Neighbor of Thomas Swift and Herman Husband on Sandy Cr. [From same volume.] There are no Wilburn/Welborn in Deed Books 1 and 2 which begin 1755. In the Deed Book 3 index, there is an Edward and Martha Wilborn of Orange, 13 Nov 1764, selling 100A both sides Sandy Cr. to Edward Cowen....Witnessed by William Welborn and Thomas Welborn. Prvd 22 Mar 1770 by William Welborn. NO RECORD OF A RICHARD WELBORN/WILBORN/WILBURN. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you locate any Burk/Burks names in your research being connected to Welborn/Wilborn/Wilburn.
