Notes: Records of the Quakers at Wrightsborough, Georgia, Introduction
Wrightsborough Township was settled in 1767 by some forty families of Orange County, North Carolina, led by Quakers Joseph Maddock and Johnathan Sell. Many of the Quaker families in this migration had moved as a group from New Castle [in Delaware, but then under the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania] and Chester County, Pennsylvania, to North Carolina in 1754-1755.
Quarterly religious meetings were held alternatively between Cane Creek and New Garden, North Carolina prior to 1768.
