If William owned land in Orange County, NC, why would he have moved to Laurens County, SC? It doesn't make sense. It seems more likely that his parents resided in Orange County or he was just passing through and spent some time there on his way to Laurens County. The lore I heard is that William received a land grant in Laurens County, SC for his Revolutionary War service.
