I have a hunch that the early settlers to Orange County, mid to late 1700s, were Scotch Irish. I know that some of them did come by way of Virginia (Orange County also!), but Iíve not been able to find any trace of when, or how, they got to Virginia, other than it was at least the very early 1700s. I do know that some of the migrations originally were to Pennsylvania and Maryland, then to Virginia, and then at least some to North Carolina.
Does anyone know of any good published literature on this, or have any comments?
