If your ancestors (Horne) were from Orange CO, NC, then there is a chance that you might be able to help me with mine. My gg grandfather, William M. Horne, b. 1833 and siblings Melvina Louisa Horne and Alfred Joshua Horne were from Orange CO, NC. I found William and Melvina in the Orange CO, NC 1850 census living in the HH of James and Becky Ward. I don't know the connection with the Ward family. Melvina married Addison Mitchell Van Hook.I do have lots of info on William's line after he married Caroline Mashburn in Towns CO, GA. There was also a connection at one time in Macon CO, NC. Melvina, Alfred Joshua and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Brown are all buried at the Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Macon CO, NC. I understand from some of the older family members who have now passed away that Melvina was probably known as "Vina". Alfred J. HOrne was listed in the 1860 census of Macon CO, NC. This just about covers what I know about the earlier Hornes. I am hoping that you might be able to provide some clues about their parents and/or where they came from. I have a picture of Olivia Damascus Horne who was the daughter of William M. Horne and Caroline M. Mashburn that I will share with anyone interested. Any and all help will be most appreciated.
