Upon further research, at the March 1858 Onslow County Court Minutes, Solomon Gornto is appointed administrator of the estate of Asa T. Wilson and is authorized to sell two slaves, David and Faithful, to pay estate debt. At the same session, Elizabeth Wilson comes into court to petition her dower share of the estate which is granted. Jasper Etheridge, clerk of court, is appointed ad litum for the infant defendents. This must by William Richard Bazel Wilson, George Washington Wilson, and Robert Anderson Wilson. It is ironic that two months later Elizabeth marries Edward Edens. She needed someone to help her care for these minor children.
I believe this might have solved your mystery.
