It looks like Kinchen Taylor who died in Nash Co NC in Feb 1851 was the son of Reuben Taylor. Taylor, Reubin, will date 6 Dec. 1821, date recorded Nov. Court, 1822, Edge Co NC, my loving wife, Winiford Taylor . . . to my son William . . . down Beach Run Swamp to a cross fence then near a south to my son Allen Taylor to my son Reubin Taylor, Jr. my tract of land in Edgecombe County which he is now in possession of known by the David Taylor tract, all the residue of my property to be divided equally between my nine children, to wit, Penelope Pope, Dempsey Taylor, Elizabeth Whitehead, Kinchen Taylor, Polly House, Reubin Taylor, Jr., Jesse Taylor (for his children), William Taylor and Allen Taylor, executors, my sons Dempsey Taylor and William Taylor, wit. Jacob Ing, LittleBerry Pope, proved in open court for Nov. 1822, by Jacob Ing and Little Berry Pope. Edgecombe County Wills, CR.037.801.29, NC State Archives. Dempsey TAYLOR (son of Reubin Taylor above) Abstracts of Wills of Edgecombe Co NC 1733-1856 Taylor, Dempsey, p. 477 Apr 6 1837-May 6 1845 sons 1. Tarlton Screws, 2. Labon Screws, 3. Dempsey Calvin Taylor. "I hereby autherize my executors...to legitimate and alter the names of my two sons, Tarlton Screws and Labon Screws, agreeable to an act of the General Assembly, to Tarlton Taylor and Labon Taylor. daus; 1. Lucinda Taylor, 2. Polly Taylor. Friends: John Fletcher. Ex: Jacob Ing, Kinchen Taylor, Samuel L. Arrington. Wit Joshua Long, Guilford Coley, Fed B....E. Drewery Taylor married Mary Screws, 13 May 1834, G.W. Drake bm, (w) A. Whitfield (from Williams and Griffiths). Was this for Dempsey instead of Drewery Taylor? Tarlton Screws’ name was changed to Tarlton Taylor and witness Tarlton Taylor was in the 3 Feb (1851) will of Kinchen Taylor below (and compare the names above and below). Based upon abstracts: the widow of Kinchen Taylor, Mary (with the same children), said Kinchen died in February (no year and no other dates) and guardian accounts for at least three of the children were dated 1851 – so Kinchen Taylor must have died in Feb 1851.
