(Dated 10 Feb 1818, 330 acres in Nash Co NC from Hardy Pridgen to Foster Gandy, for $1320, on the waters of Sapony Creek, north side of Sapony Creek, south/20/east to Beaverdam Branch, Baker’s line formerly Moses Atkinson’s line, Barnes’ line now Lewis Vick’s line, west along Evans’ line, along Canady’s line; recorded November? 1818? Witnesses Saml W.W. Vick, Dempsey Harrison)

Baker’s line above referred to the 1761 purchase by William Baker, Sr., from Moses Atkinson; that land had adjoining land on the south owned by James Barnes and George Jackson. At some point in time before 1818, Lewis Vick came into possession of the James Barnes land (if the 1761 deed was accurate in saying that James Barnes owned it).

This indenture made this the tenth day of February one thousand and eight hundred and eighteen between Hardy Pridgen of the county of Nash and state of Northcarolina of the one part & Foster Gandy of the county and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for the consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand paid therewith fully satisfy & hath given granted bargained sold and conveyed & confirmed by these presence doth absolutely grant sell and confirm unto the said Foster Gandy his heirs executors administrators and assigns possess one certain tract of land containing three hundred and thirty acres be the same more or less lying and being in the county of Nash and state aforesaid on the waters of Sappony Creek beginning at a white oak on the north side of Sappony Creek thence north 20 (degrees) west 200 poles to a red oak thence (south) 70 (degrees) (west) 160 poles “to White Hicory” thence (south) 20 (degrees) east to the Beaver Dam Branch thence up said branch to Baker’s line formerly Moses Atkinson’s line thence along the said line to a narrow “Leaf pine” thence (east) to a maple in Barnes’ line now Lewis Vick’s line thence south to the corner thence (east) to the creek thence down the various courses of the said swamp to (Evans’) line thence west along Evans’ line to the corner thence along “Cannadies” (Canady’s) line to the first station to have and to “hole” the said land all and singular the premises unto the said Foster Gandy his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever in as clear and ample a manner to all intents and purposes as a perceivable (irreversible) state of inheritance. In fee simple and to the said Hardy Pridgen Hardy binds and obliges himself his heirs and assigns forever do warrant and defend to the said Forster Gandy his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever in witness whereof the said Hardy Pridgen hath set his hand and affixed his seal and in the day & date above written signed sealed (__) in the presences of us (Saml W.W.
