I posted this information because there was a David Harper who m. Mary Manning. They settled on a farm between Killquick and Speed in Edgecombe County. David Harper, Sr. died so Mary married a Dorman. Their daughter married a Batchelor. Some sons remained in VA but Reuben, David, James and Robert came to eastern NC. David Harper returned to VA. William Harper was one son who remained in VA. These Harpers are of Irish descendants. All this was in Edgecombe County but they came from the Norfolk County, VA area. We believe we might be descendants of these Harpers. One genealogist thinks we are descendants of the Reuben Harper. They may be related to those below, too.

There was an Ida Harper in Old Sparta. There was a Wilson Harper in the Edgecombe County census, too.
