Nice to claim a new cousin. Indexing a county history is a labor of love. I'll definitely look for the book and your index. I've done a bit of research at the Braswell library in Rocky Mount, and hope some day to visit again. When my Batchelors moved to West TN, they intermarried with other eastern NC families, including the Monks, Cherrys, and Byrds of Martin and Bertie Co. Like the Batchelors, most of these families moved down into northeastern NC from Norfolk Co., VA.
I appreciate the information about Moses's Meeting House, which is new to me. Not sure what the religious background of my Batchelors was they left Nash Co., but the biography of Wilson and Alcie Odom Batchelor's son Wilson Bachelor does mention that his mother belonged to the Methodist Episcopal church.
Thank you very much for all your helpfulness--it's always fascinating to discover new tidbits of information about one's family lines.
