What some call Old Brush Creek Cemetery might be aka Welch Cemetery. Levi Truitt died Dec 15, 1830, Brush Creek Baptist Church was founded 1832 with Susannah Morgan Truitt as one of the first members. Many of the graves in the Welch Cemetery were unmarked or markers were lost. There was a symbolic moving of these graves to Brush Creek Baptist Cemetery but I cannot find a record of Levi or Susannah's graves even though Susannah died July 11, 1860. Some of their children (Solomon & John are buried in the Truitt Cemetery which is on the hill where Brush Creek Rd. intersects with NC 28S in Swain Co. The Welch or Old Brush Creek Cemetery is located on the hill just above the confluence of Brush Creek (Tabor Mill Creek on some old maps) and the Little Tennessee River off Lower Needmore Rd. approx. 1/2 mile above the Swinging Bridge at Needmore NC. This is on the East side of the river. This road intersects with NC 28S at the Brush Creek Baptist Church Sign. To drive to the Cem. proceed approx. a mile and a half past the drive which goes up to the church. Old Cemetery is not marked. I hope this might help.
