I am sorry. I have not seen your message before. I believe that our first Long ancestor living there was probably James Thomas Long and Rebecca Sherrill. It was: J. T. Long/Rebecca Sherill Laban Lafayette Long/Caroline Carpenter Margaret Long/Henry Ledbetter Carroll Andrew Jackson Long(did not go by the name Carroll)/Olivia Damascus Horne Lawrence Nathan Long/Julia Mae Shedd Lee Roy Long/Elizabeth Louise Edwards (these are my parents). I have recently found information indicating that Oliva Horne's family (at least her uncle, Alfred Joshua Horne) was also there in 1860 up until his death in 1899. I am having a time finding his parents. Olivia's father was William Horne and William and Alfred had a sister named Melvina Louisa Horne who married a VanHook and she is buried in the Bethel Cemetery in Macon CO. William Horne's wife was Caroline Mashburn (daughter of Matthew Mashburn and Catherine Rayburn, who both died in Macon CO) and she was also from Macon CO, NC and they are the parents of Oliva Damascus Horne Long. Isn't this enough to confuse anyone??? |
