Hi Jean: Liles creek is now called Lyle Creek. It is a tributary of the Catawba River and enters the river south of Interstate 40 about 2 miles It is in Catawba County. At the time Mr. Tritt purchased his tract, it was either in Lincoln or Burke County. Balsher Tritt( Treit) owned a tract of land, about 450 acres, adjacent to Devault Hunsucker. It was along the North Fork of Lyle Creek, as was Hunsucker, while Whitingberg's land was on Lyle Creek. I have plotted many tract of the early settlers along Lyle creek. Hope you are pleased with this information. Wendell
