We are running a query and photo regarding Angus Edgar Maynor on the obit page of the Asheville Citizen Times newspaper on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004.
Angus Edgar (b. 1877 in Moore/Chatham county NC) disappeared from Greensboro, NC in 1927. Angus was a barber in Durham NC (early 1900's), Greensboro NC (several times including 1927--maybe Gates City Barber Shop), Hendersonville NC (1926). His wife got an absolute divorce in 1933---Angus was never located to answer the divorce petition. Angus (sometimes pronounced Anguish) was "rumored" to have been LIVING IN OR AROUND THE ASHEVILLE NC AREA in the early 1960's. He would have been about 83 in 1960. He "may have changed his name" after leaving Greensboro. Angus had a brother, George Henry Maner who lived in LEE COUNTY in 1890 before he moved to Texas to work for Judge McIver. Angus had another brother, Cornelius (Neal) J. that was also a barber and married to Hassie Short Fields of Moore County. All replies most welcome!
