Parents are shown as Isah Wood & Susan White. The informant is shown as BM Wood (Benjamin M) of Kinston, NC (Lenoir Co)Ironically, the undertaker is shown as DE Wood.

2 males under 5 b. 1826-1830 George 1827-28
1 male 5-under 10 b. 1821-1825
1 male 15-under 20 b. 1811-1820
1 male 30-under 40 b. 1791-1800
1 female under 5 b. 1826-1830
1 female 10-under 15 b. 1816-1820
Obviously, Nancy was not the mother of all these children. In fact, at age 40 in 1850, she would be in the 16-under 20 or 20-under 30 age range on this census and there is no female of that age range. Given that Isiah is 30-under 40 yrs of age, I suspect that Nancy was a second wife, which may account for your Edward's mother being shown as Susan White instead of Nancy.
Other Wood families on the 1830 Jones Co NC Census:
Anthony, Elizabeth, Felix, Hnah (Hannah?), James, John & Mathew Wood
Jones Co Deed Bk 20 Pg 12 9/22/1836 In deed James J Rhodes to Owen B Cox reference is made of "to line of land belonging to heirs of Frederick WOOD, deceased"
Deed Bk 20 Pg 137 Josiah Askew to Lewis O Bryan references
"which was conveyed by Thomas Askew to James WOOD in 1792"
Apparently, Nancy was widowed before 8/10/1839
Jones Co, NC Deed Bk 20, Page 194 8/10/1839 Ivy Harrison sold land belonging to the children she/he was appointed guardian of: Isaiah, Edward, Amos, John & George Wood. Amos would be one of the unknown males on the 1840 census. It's possible that the other one belongs to the unknown female, in Nancy's household.
