Lowes Grove School is on South Alston Ave. on the corner of Highway 54 and S. Alston. It would now be considered RTP instead of Lowes Grove which was kind of a community years ago. The building is still there, but it has not been used in years and will be torn down soon I believe. The orginal building was a little one room school house built in the late 1800s I believe, which was still on the grounds of the larger school which was built in 1930s. There also used to be a large house across the street where the teachers resided. I was an elementary student there in the 1970s. It seemed quite old then, but it was a good school, very roomy and had a large recess area. In the 1970s it was still pretty rural. No more.
