Wanda,

I would like to be able to verify this Timothy McGuire's parentage as well. The most likely prospect is Samuel McGuire who married Minty Kell(e)y. Samuel's parents were James McGuire and Elenor Luck(e)y of Rowan County, NC.

My ancestor from that area is Timothy McGuire ca. 1740-1790, who is known to have been in Rowan County, NC by 1762. Where he lived eventually became Iredell County. His farm is shown on the 1773 map made by William Sharpe. He was located northeast of Salisbury, NC.

As it happens my great great grandfather was a Timothy McGuire as well. He was born about 1821 in Alabama. His parents were Timothy McGuire and Polly McGuire; who were first cousins. Timothy was the son of Thomas McGuire and Margaret Hayes. Polly was the daughter of Timothy McGuire and Fannie M. unknown. Thomas and Timothy were the sons of Timothy of Rowan County.

There are a lot of could be's and what if's that I would like to get answered. Was James McGuire, father of Samuel McGuire, a brother of Timothy's? Timothy McGuire had a daughter named Mary. She was married to John Luckey. Was John Luckey connected to James McGuire's wife?

I have never been able to find any records to prove anything one way or the other.
