Hello Carroll/Carrel researchers,
Questions for anyone researching John Carroll, b. ca 1790 in NC, m. 1811 Betsey Stubblefield in Hawkinds Co., TN, d. 1878 in DeKalb Co., MO or James b. ca 1799 in NC, m. Mary in Granger Co., Tn, d. 1879 in Mo or Albert - Alfred - Alford supposed brother of John and James. Are these three men brothers? Cousins? Where did they live in North Carolina, possibley Caswell Co.? Who were their parents?
John and James moved to Clay Co., Mo by 1822. There was a letter (which was accidently destroyed) written in the 1830s by "brother" Albert reporting on "aging parents". Tradition says the family lived in Roane Co., TN but there is no Albert on any records of early Tennessee. An Alfred lived in Roane Co and eventually moved to St. Clair Co., MO which is about 100 miles south of the area where John and James settled.
Both John and James named sons William - was William the father or grandfather?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
