James Harris had land south of 24-27 along Brief Road and the Cbarrus/Mecklenburg line/ This old road was on the route of the first highway that ran from Charlottetowne to Elizabeth Town ca, 1778to where it then crossed Rocky River at Clear Creek. Numerous Presbyterian churches were built along this old road. As this road took many changes north over time, the impact was great on land conveyances. Think of today where a two lane grows to four and then a interstate grows parallel and beside ...It really messes up the local deeding.

There are some really cool land plats detailing land disputes very early in old Mecklenburg. There are several for James Harris and his neighbors in the area of Brief Road. I suspect the cause was the road and also land acquired through different juridisctions. Some from Colonial Grants, some by deed from Arthur Dobbs, and some by Sec.of State land grants. Was easy for the same land to be be obtained by different people over different time. You need to look at the Meck and Cab civil action papers - land.

And... I really have no White family kin.... :)
