While showing folks the ancient Haynes Meeting House Cemetery in Midland, Cabarrus County NC, we made a few important finds for this family... as follows: From an earlier visit, we dicovered the grave marker of "Levi Keiser D.1789." Levi was the son of George Sr. and therefore must have died as a child. Thinking the parents would be buried near the child, we looked more closely for clues and on this most recent trip to the cemetery found several other graves with only the letter K surviving. K, when scratched into a rock seems to have survived better than other letters. The writing on one of the graves that I had tried to ientify for years jumped out for one of our group who visited the cemgtery. The stone can be seen on my page at: http://www.angelfire.com/nc/benjthomasofansonnc/hayne.html Looking closely at this stone, we made out what appeared to be part of a G followed by an E an the name Keiser. The date appeared to be 1822. So, it looks like this may be the grave of George Alexander Keiser Jr. One concern is the age.... it looks like this person lived into their 70's... Note the stone is really old and we may be misreading the age. However, we are comfortable that the name is Keiser and the last two letters of the first name are GE.... |
