My 2nd great grandparents
Julius Marion Long b. June 29, 1847 in Union Co., NC married Louise "Lou" Gray b. Dec. 22, 1858 in Shelby Co., TN.
Julius Long is the son of Henry and Catherine (Bost) Long. The Long and Bost families were from the Cabarrus and Union Co., border area. Henry was son of Jacob and Barbara (Hagler) Long and Jacob was son of Henry and Anna Catherine (Pence) Long. This has been thoroughly researched.
Now.. Looking to verify and/or find more to information below:
The Following was found and downloaded via the internet and somewhat verified by census.
Julius's wife, Louise "Lou" Gray is the daugther of James Nelson Gray b. Jun 23, 1827 in NC and Elizabeth M. Williams b.1839 (possibly daughter of R.J. Williams b. abt 1812 in NC). They died in Shelby Co., TN.
James Nelson Gray is the son of Jefferson Gray b. 1798 in Cabarrus Co., NC and Leah Francis Stewart b. Oct 19, 1807 in NC. They both died in Shelby Co., TN. (who were the parents of Leah Stewart?)
Jefferson Gray is the son of Beverly Gray b. before 1778 in VA and Margareth Garman b. in NC. They were married Oct 16, 1798 in Cabarrus Co., NC. Both died in NC, most likely Cabarrus Co.
If correct, who were the parents of Jefferson Gray ?
Anyone willing to share information on these families, please contact me.
I believe the Long, Gray and Williams families Migrated here to Tennessee sometime prior to the Civil War (maybe Stewart some some Polk's). There are also a couple other Longs from NC listed here in the 1960 cesus. I know Julius M. Long then followed sometime after serving in the War to visit his brother William Jackson.
Yours in Research and History,
David W. Long
