Irene was the daughter of Daniel "Dan" Alexander Johnston of Mecklenburg Co., NC, or Cabarrus Co., NC. Her mother,
Dan's wife, is not known to me.
Dan Johnston is s/o Dr. Mortimer Delville & Margaret
"Maggie" Annabelle (Alexander) Johnston, who were married July 21, 1842 at Davidson College, where Mortimer taught.
So, Irene is their grand-daughter.
Irene Johnston married James E. Steere, Sr. Children:
James E. Steere, Jr., b. 1912
James E. Steere, Jr., m. Eleanor Wallace. Children:
Frances Ann Steere b. 1948
James E. Steere III b. 1954
I am trying to fill in more of the history. For example,
who was Dan Johnston's wife (Irene's mother?). Other sibs
of Irene, and their descendants, etc.
I would like to contact Frances Ann Steere, if anyone can
mention this to her for me. In case that she would like to
have more of her family ancestry.
I was told by someone on the net that Irene was the dau. of
Abraham Alexander. This point is something I wish to clarify as well. I have information saying that she is
the great grand-daughter of my 3Ggreatgrandparents, Daniel
and Susannah (Shelby) Alexander. In that I show Maggie
Alexander as their daughter, with documentation. So, the
question arises as to WHICH Irene Johnston married James
E. Steere, Sr.
I know of at least one living relative, who is not interested in family tree matters, and so I respect their
Does anyone out there know anything about these matters?
Thanks a bunch.

PS: Irene (Johnston) Steere had a sister, Mary Steere, who
married Albert Boyle.
Does anyone have descendants of theirs, or any
knowledge of them?
