The Old Buncombe County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday August 20 at 2 PM in the society library at 128 Bingham Road, Suite 950. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the program originally scheduled - The Plott Hounds of NC - has been postponed to a later date. In its place Elaine Dellinger of Yancey County will present a very interesting program in which she will discuss her new book "Yancey County" which is a pictorial history of the county and which was co-authored by Kiesa Kay. The book features more than 200 vintage images and memories of years gone by and is part of the well-known "Images of America" series by Arcadia Publishing. Highlights include Crossing Cane and Toe Rivers; Sweet taters, corn and tobacco; Blue Ridge, bluegrass and baseball; a backwards glance; and much much more. Mrs. Dellinger will be available for questions after the program. The public is invited to attend. For directions or more information, call 828-253-1894 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
