There is also a chronology of smithville..this has alot of information on the earlier inhabitants of Smithville(Southport) including dates of death, where buried, marraiges and various tidbits. It is a wealth of information.
The book I referred to with a large cemetary listing is actually called a Gazeteer....I can't quite recall if it is just brunswick county or of NC...I believe it to be just brunswick. The cemetary list is two pages long and in vey small I said many of them are duplicates where the cemetary is known by a number of names but it does give the do have to do some digging as the locations are not given as street names but as s.r. or hwy numbers...but they can be found with a good county map. I am sure it is not all inclusive of the numerous family burying plots...such as the Hale plot the used to be in the woods off of Hale Swamp Rd. which is also known as Blueberry Farm Rd. near Ocean Isle Airport.
Do you, by the way, know what happened to those gravesites? Since they have essentially cleared that land I would think the graves were relocated....the crypts had been vandalized the last I saw (before the land was cleared) and I could hardly make out any of the engravings except for the last name on one of them. Just curious.
