Sir, you list in your reply two families I have been trying to research more on, Mcguires and Wilcox. You list Robert T. McGuire (1821-12/7/1886) as a son of Richard McGuire. Do you have any documentation on this? One source told me Robert T. McGuire's father was James McGuire (1785-1850) Both Richard and Robert were sons of Patrick McGuire (1740-1834). I am a direct descendent of Patrick McGuire through either Richard or James. Robert T. McGuire was my Great-Great Grandfather, Felix P. McGuire (3/26/1846-11/18/1918) my Great-Grandfather, Corneila Alice Mcguire Wilcox was my Grandmother, Rosa Jean Wilcox Hodges was my mother. I am trying to document my lineage from Patrick to either Richard or James, and from which ever of these sons to Robert T. McGuire. I have documentaiton from Robert T. McGuire to myself. The other family is Wilcox. You mentioned William Wilcox. He may be my Great-Great Grandfather. And there is a link between the Wilcox's and McGuire's of Ashe County. Cornelia Alice McGuire (2/22/1872-3/23/1933), a Granddaughter of Robert T. McGuire married General Grant Wilcox (10/3/1869-3/23/1954). His parents were Martin Wilcox/Wilcoxson(?) and Iva (Rebecca?) Wilson. Grant Wilcox's death certificate shows Martin Wilcox and Iva Wilson. Sources show Grant's father Martin under more than one name, Martin Wilcox, Martin VanBuren Wilcoxson, and Martin Wilcoxson, Martin Wilcoxen. Grant's mother is shown on two sources as Rebecca Wilson. Martin Wilcoxson's father is listed, on one on-line source, as William Wilcoxen or Wilcoxson. I know my family dropped the 'son', probably by Martin. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. |
