Does anyone know of a source for locating information regarding an ancestor who was assigned to duty in Haiti circa 1800?
My ancestor, Dr. Michael Beaubouef, was the chief medical officer at the military hospital in the coastal town of Mole St. Nicolas on the northwest shore of Haiti. His son (also my ancestor) was born there in July 1800. I would like to find out if the family returned to France after the Haitian revolution or immigrated directly to Louisiana.
Does anyone have any ideas for good sources for this type of information?
