Where did you obtain all that information - I'm amazed and grateful to you. I had him in the 1881 Census and I also have his marriage certificate, birth certificate for one of his daughyers and certificate of death. I have Absalom in the 1841 census with father William (shoemaker). I have Absalom in the 1851 census with wife Mary and other family members.
As regards his military life I have him in the 1861 Census at Dorchester Barracks aged 26. His wife is here with him. In the 1871 census he is stationed at Golden Hill Fort on the Isle of Wight, but I know nothing at all about his time there or at the Dorchester Barracks. I knew nothing either about his medals and good conduct badges. I would love to find out more though.
I did find a William Greening wounded 24 Oct 1899 in the Boer War and wondered if this could be his father.
Regards and many thanks
