I am looking for information on a Norwegian general that fought in the Norwegian-Swedish War of 1814. His name was General Gunder Hestad. He lived to be 105 but I do not know the facts of his birth or death. (However, his granddaughter, Martha Marian Hestad, is said to remember his stories of the war - she was born in Stavanger, Norway 14 Apr 1861.) One of General Hestad'ss sons, Uleland Hestad,was a Norwegian statesman for 40 years. His grandson, Benjamin Uleland Hestad, "held a state office" in Norway. Benjamin Uleland Hestad was born in Norway in 1825, emigrated to America in 1871 and died in Bryant, South Dakota on 20 Aug 1904.
