I am looking at the files of six Myers families in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Some or all maybe related to each other. Indeed they are buried in three cemeteries within 1 mile of each other. The first is the Myers family I described who shipped families members from Baltimore to be reburied in Pittsburgh around April 1857. They were Wagon Makers and somehow connected to Davy Crockett. Davy Crockett writes in his book about Henry Myers the Wagon Maker from Baltimore. I have talked to several family members who seem to think the original name was Spellmeyer or Henry Myers married a Spellmeyer. The second group is George W Myers. This family came from Hancock Maryland. The third group is Peter Myers buried buried at the Catholic Cemetery. This family came to America from Germany around 1834. The forth group is the Myers family from Ft Myers in Lee County Florida related to Christopher Gist. The fifth Group is the Myers family related to the McKee family of Alexander McKee. The sixth Group is the Chief Logan Myers/Greathouse family. They seem to have relatives in Kentucky and Auburn NY. |
