Hello J,
Tnx for responding to my entry, and pls excuse my delay in answering. We had an unwelcomed visitor named ISAAC that
hung around here too long.
My hope is to locate a male Murph(e)y related to the bunch from Pembroke KY who would be willing to have a y-DNA test run, at my expense, to see if we are related. I found out late in life that I had been "adopted" as a brand new baby with no birth certificate when "mama" and "papa"(Calmes) lived in England Arkansas where papa was a high school teacher. Papa's brother, Ernest, was a lifelong professor at a college in Livingston, Alabama. Another brother, Eugene Murphey, was President of University of Alabama in Tuscalusa in early 1900s. Brother David became a doctor
or surgeon, I think, and went to Florida. Brother Edward was the renegade in the family. I heard that he had worked for Wells-Fargo, got mixed up in theft and counterfeiting, and the FBI was after him. He became a bad alcholic. All of this bunch of Murpheys died long ago. I never knew anyone but papa and Ernest. Most of the Murpheys had just daughters, but I think David had some boys, but I don't know who or where they are.
At age 83 I feel like I'm running out of time.
Enough for now. I hope I haven't bored you, and I beg you not to scold me too harshly if I violated any rules of the forum.
Best regards,
Jim
