Jonathan,
Glad to get the death date for Robert W. Murdock. You may have noticed that the 1900 census indicated that he was born in May of 1842 and he would have been about three years old when his parents moved to Cobb Co., GA.
I have only met a couple of Murdocks. But I have worked with a network of Murdock researchers who got into it well after I did. I worked with a lady in California a few years ago who put together a Murdock book in 2001 when she was up in her 70's. She was anxious to finish it because of her age. And she has since died.
She printed out what she had in her computer and I think she only did about a dozen copies.
I have considered revising the book since I have found quite a bit since 2001. But it would require quite a time investment.
Thomas Hamilton Murdock (Robert W.'s father) was born on August 30, 1797 in Newberry Co., SC and died on July 18, 1873 in Etowah Co., AL. His wife, Mary (or Polly), was born August 31, 1801 in SC and I do not have a death date for her. William Murdock, father of Thomas Hamilton Murdock, was born March 15, 1759 in County Down, Northern Ireland and died after May, 1842 in Franklin Co., GA. Hamilton Murdock, the immigrant, and father of William was baptized as an infant on March 27, 1731 in the Killyleagh Presbyterian Church in Killyleagh, Ireland. He was married to Mary Cleland on January 10, 1754 in Killyleagh. Hamilton Murdock's father, William Murdogh, was baptized as an infant on July 12, 1700 in the Killyleagh Presbyterian Church and was married to Martha Hamilton on May 26, 1726 in Killyleagh. William's father, also William Murdogh, was married in 1698 in Killyleagh to Jennet Murchland.
Back down to Robert W. Murdock - he was the youngest of the eleven children of Thomas Hamilton Murdock and his wife, Mary.
I can send you their names if you are interested.
My notes show that Robert W. and Hannah had four children,
namely, Mary E., Hannah M., Robert Henry, and Una V., the last being born in August of 1881.
I would like to get a complete list of the children of Allen F. and Mary Murdock Raines. Did all go to Wayne Co., MS? I am well familiar with Wayne County since my wife is from Choctaw Co., AL which borders Wayne County. Is that where you live.
My best, R. L. Guffin
