Some MURDOCK information is found in the book by Nancy Syphrett DETTY, title: DETTY, SYPHRETT/SYFRET/SYFRET and Related Families (includes FUSSELL and POWELL). This book is in the Clayton Library in Houston and in the Library of Congress. There is also a Syphrett and a Fussell Forum at this Genforum site.

My great grandmother, Nancy Jane Fussell, who married Silas A. Syphrett, had a sister, Annie/Anna Laura Fussell. The family called her Aunt Laura. Laura married William I. MURDOCK.

William I. is 12 in the 1860 Dale Co., AL Census with James W. Murdock age 36 and Nancy age 26 and his siblings.

The 1880 Census of Conecuh, AL, shows William I. Murdock age 32 and wife Anna, age 27, daughters Fannie A. age 8, Rosilla C. age 6, Hattie E(Elizabeth) age 5 and son Willie B(Boyd). age 3. The census shows Williamís parents were both born in Alabama. Anna shows her parents were both born in Georgia. All their children were born in Alabama. They lived in Burnt Corn, AL, before they moving to Texas. Anna's sister Nancy Jane Syphrett and family had already moved to Texas.

In the 1900 Census of Harris County, Texas, the Murdocks were living with daughter Rosita (Rosilla) and her husband Theo INGEVERSEN with son Albert. Theo was born Dec. 1863 in Denmark, Rosita born June 1872 in AL and Albert born Nov. 1896 in TX. In the house with Ingeversen family are William I, father-n-law born July 1847, Annie mother-n-law born Feb. 1851, and Willie (Boyd) Murdock, brother-in-law born Dec. 1877 single. Annie Murdock shows she had four children and four were living.

William Boyd Murdock marred Mamie JONES (born July 31, 1883). William Boyd died 1909 and his sister Fannie had died by that time also because in 1910 Anna says four born and two living children (Rosilla and Hattie).

The 1910 census of Harris County, Texas in the house were: William I. 62, Anna, 58, Mamie, daughter-in-law age 27, widow, granddaughters Orlean 5, Lucille, 2, and grandson Boyd Murdock 8/12. Lucile actually spelled her name with one L. More information: Orlean (1905-1921), Lucile (1907-1980) married Fred A. MOORE and William Boyd Murdock (1908-1960) married Ruth HESTER.

Mamie Murdock married second to Martin Luther Syphrett son of Nancy Jane and Silas Syphrett. Nancy B Syphrett Detty (1918-2005)was their only child. Go the her book mentioned above for more information.
