Edmond Hardy was born closer to 1804 and died after 1880 in Yalobusha Co., MS. His wife Susannah Webb was probably born in TN about 1812 although the 1860 Pickens Co., AL census states she was born in SC. Their oldest son (second child) John Edmond Hardy was born 1829 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL and married Lucind Thompson. They had 9 children: Henry J. born 1848; James b. 1852; Susan b. 1855; Mary b. 1856; John b. 1859; Jackson b. 1862; Sarah b. 1865; Martha b. 1868; Rosalie b. 1873. Wheeler Hardy is not from this family. There are several Hardy families in the Tuscaloosa area in the 1860s, both black and white. There is another Edmond Hardy in the Montgomery, AL area of the same age and time as the above Edmond Hardy from Tuscaloosa, AL. Both are white men.....and the children have similar names. That is why proof/records are so important. Thanks for your info. |
