I'm pretty new at genealogy research and need help locating information about John William Cooper, born about 1832. All of the census reports that I have seen list Alabama as his birth state. John married a Jane Louisa Thomas July 1, 1852. Jane was the daughter of Miles Thomas. I have a copy of a marriage certificate for John and Jane issued by Alcorn Co., Mississippi (I believe Alcorn Co. was part of old Tishomingo Co.). John and Jane had 4 children - Benjamin F, John W Jr, Miles, and Emma. I have been unable to find anything about John, Jane, Miles and Emma after the 1870 census for Prentiss Co. Mississippi. John Jr was my g-grandfather. Thanks for any assistance.
