Belmont – John W. Timbs, 77, died June 28, 2009, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1932, in Tishomingo County to William and Ethel Underwood Timbs. He was a mechanic for 40 years, a member of Old Union Baptist Church and a member of Bay Springs Masonic Lodge 167. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with burial in Old Union Cemetery in Belmont. Survivors included two daughters, Diane Bumpus (Danny) and Sheila Craig (Terry), all of Belmont; one sister, Grace Acklin of Belmont; daughter-in-law, Karen Timbs of Belmont; four grandchildren, Angie Hitt, Brandon George, Justin Timbs (Kaila) and Anna Timbs; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Dulaney Timbs, a son, Johnny Timbs, his parents; one brother, Earnest Timbs; and two sisters, Bobbie Phipps and Bernice Timbs. |
