Smithville Rubie Culpepper Gregory, 91, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at her home . A native of Chickasaw County she was born on July 7, 1920, to the late James David and Beulah Aston Culpepper. Mrs. Gregory, who led a long full life, was a loving and caring person, always helping others. She was a retired seamstress, working at Amory Garment Co., Wilson Mfg, and Red Kap Industries before her retirement. She married Hermon Gregory, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Smithville Baptist Church and enjoyed engaging in biblical discussion. She enjoyed fellowship with the ladies of the church, especially last week when they celebrated her birthday together. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and loved gardening her many flowers, which she could name if asked even recently.

Survivors included her son, W.H.(Virginia) Gregory of Smithville; sister, Elsie Gregory of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Arnold (Meg) Gregory of Sturgis, Paul (Becky) Gregory of Amory, Norman (Jennifer) Gregory, Lynda White and Debbie Lansing all of Smithville; 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Don Lansing of Smithville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; her daughter, JoAnn Lansing; four brothers, Milton, James, Robert and Bill Culpepper; and two sisters, Earline Russell and Mary Collins.

A Celebration of Life service wwas held at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with burial in Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville.
