Morgan: I would like to ask a favor from you. The Franklin Cemetery is at the Franklin Presbyterian Church. The church building was constructed in 1840 and is still being maintained. Although services are not conducted, there is an annual meeting. We have just restored the cemetery. It had been vandalized over the years and many markers broken. We have repaired the markers and placed them in their orginal positions. The church is on the National Register of Historical Places.
Now the favor. We want to prepare a brochure with a history of each family represented in the cemetery. Since the Sample family has a large number of burials, I wonder if you could furnish me with a brief history of the Sample family, including as many dates and places as are known. We especially need info on the family before coming to Mississippi. I can fill in most of the info after they came here. I have copied a history of David Cowan Sample, Sr. from the World Connect at Rootsweb.com. It gives a good history after he got to California.
I would really appreciate this info. If there is anything else I can help with, let me know.
