VERA ANN BENSON_ (nee More) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother at the age of 92 years, on Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Vera died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital with family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Ingolfur Lorne Benson, brother Melville More and sister Rowena Casault. Left to cherish her are her son John, daughter Beverly and son Kenneth, grandchildren Kirk, Petra, Eric and Alex, great-grandchildren Dylan, Kiana and Keira, many nieces and nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. Vera was born in Dand, Manitoba on October 16th, 1912 where she grew up on the family farm. While working as a telephone operator in Hartney, Manitoba, she met and married Lorne Benson of Selkirk, Manitoba. Vera was a devoted wife and mother, who put family first as they moved from province to province with Lorne's job with the Bank of Montreal. She was always so proud of her children and their accomplishments. Vera had a special touch with infants, especially her foster babies. She dearly loved the family's pets. Amongst her interests were gardening, baking, sewing and needlework. All who visited were welcomed into her home. She enjoyed sports, had a keen sense of humour and took a great interest in world events. Close to her heart were the work of the church and her 50+ years in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, first as a member of Chapter G, Selkirk, a charter member of Chapter C, Regina, and most recently Chapter C, Winnipeg. Vera was truly loved and admired by all that knew her. She was a lady of great pride and dignity, an amazing woman full of love and caring and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Boniface and Concordia Hospitals for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vera's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy, at 2:00 on Thursday, July 7. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Regina, Saskatchewan. Lord wrap her in your arms Surround her with your love For she is now at peace With you above Rest well, dear mother. We love you. John, Beverly and Kenneth KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME
