While searching for Joseph MOODY's I found the following info that I think may link to a branch of our Ydna MOODY's of MS. 1880 Dist. 103, Franconia, Pickens Co., AL census - June 3rd Dr. Joseph MOODY white male age 35 (b.c1855) Physician b. MS VA GA Johnnette T. wife white female b. AL SC AL Arthur H. MOODY 6 white male son b. AL continued on next page ~ Mary J. GARDNER age 50 white female age 50 mother-in-law -Postmistress b. AL GA VA Emma C. Gardner 19 sis in law b. AL SC AL Edward S. Gardner 13 brother in law - farm lab. b. AL SC AL Anna L. STEELE age 22 white female sis-in-law b. AL SC AL Walter A. STEELE age 3 white male - nephew b. AL AL AL Backtracking to see if I could find this Joseph's Parents, in the 1870 Gainesville P.O.dist. of Hancock Co., MS (census) Aug. 6th I found the following which ~MIGHT~ be the right family~ John MOODY age 58 (b.c1812) b. MS Rebecca 34 (presumably his daughter) b. MS Ebenezer 21 Theopolus 18 JOSEPH age 15 (b.c1845) all kids b. MS I also noted that a nearby neighbor was a James WHEAT age 23 and wife Zenith? 24 children Caroline 3 and Joseph 6 months old all born in MS. Going back to the 1860 census to search this John MOODY, I found the following which again Appears to be the same one, but might not be... 1860 Beat 10, Shelby Co., TX - June 8th - Truits Store P.O. distr. John MOODY, Sr. age 47 (b.c1813) farmer b. MS Mary A. age 30 b. MS (b.c1830) b. MS Rebecca age 8 b. TX (b.c1852) Jane age 6 b. TX Eli age 19 farm laborer b. TX (b.c1814) Ben. L. MOODY age 22 farm lab. b. AL (b.c1838...one things for certain, this family moved a LOT) Levy MOODY age 20 farm laborer b. AL (b.c1840) Sarah STAUGHTON/Staughter? age 4 b. TX Susan Staughton age 3 b. TX John Staughton age 2 b. TX and Anderson Staughton age 1 b. TX (were these kids adopted by John MOODY or were they grandkids?) LIVING NEXT DOOR to above John Moody, Sr. was John MOODY, Jr. white male age 27 (b.c1833) farmer b. MS Amanda 24 b. MS Rebecca age 6 b. TX Harriet age 4 b. TX 1850 ?, Shelby Co., TEXAS census - Sept. 14th John MOODY white male age 47 farmer b. GA Ann (Mary Ann?) 45 b. GA William 20 b. AL John Moody 17 b. AL Domaletta? age 14 female b. AL Levy MOODY age 12 b. AL Elq. MOODY -male age 6 b. ? can't read clearly but looks like it just says "South". After finding these MOODY's I went to Rootsweb and found the following info but have no idea if this is the same family or not, but it ~Appears~ to be...compare the surnames from above Census data... Dr. Joseph MOODY spouse unkn. daughter Emmie GARDNER MOODY b. in Aliceville, (which is Pickens Co.) AL Also linked to this family was a Jacob F. NABORS who married a Sarah "Sally" WHEAT b. in SC, but this goes back to the 1700's, but still it could be a possible link. I know some of the Hancock Co., MS - MOODY's link to our Ydna lines. If anyone has further details of these folks I would be interested in learning more about them. Thank You.
