There has been many strides amde on the Montgomery family.
DNA has been very helpful.
If memory serves me, I had a visit with Sara Sherwood,
and she told me of this Joel Bradshaw and his Montgomery
I think she said her name was Mary and that she went to
Illinois where she and her brother, William Montgomery
I do not have all the pages of the affidavits that Sara told me about, but can say this, this Mary was a daughter of John Montgomery. This John was later found in Burke County, North Carolina with sons, John Jr., Michael, James,
Robert, Hamilton, and William.
Some say that this elder John Montgomery was born about
1725 plus or minus say 5 years, and that he was the son of
Michael and Margaret Montgomery of Amherst County.
This Michael being the same that purchased lands at the
Mouth of Davis Creek branch of Rockfish River in 1752.
This land consisted of 500 acres and adjoined the lands of Alexander Montgomery on the lower side.
This Alexander Montgomery has been cited on many postings and no one seems to know what has happened to him.
With him having lands that adjoined those of Michael Montgomery it can be said that this Alexander was NOT the same that owned all his lands near or on Buck Creek.
Maybe you could enlighten me?
