Webb Dies Of Self Inflicted Wound Friday
Russell Francis Webb, 40, was found dead at 3:30 p.m. yesterday by his wife at their home on Route 2. Coroner Henry Sweets pronounced his death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the left chest from 20-guage bolt action shotgun pellets. He deemed an inquest unnecessary.
Time of death was set at 2:45 p.m. Webb was last seen alive at noon yesterday.
The body was removed to the Clark Funeral home, where friends may call after 1 o'clock tomorrow. Military rites will be held at the funeral home at 4 o'clock tomorrow by Emmette J. Shields Post, No. 55, American Legion. Funeral services will be conducted at Clark's at 2 o'clock Monday with Rev. W.J. Heriford officiating. Interment will be in Grand View Burial Park.
Russell Webb was born Sept. 28, 1919 at New London, a son of the late David and Racel Manker Webb.
He was a veteran of World War II and served as sergeant with Company H of the 185th Infantry.
On Dec. 7, 1945 he was married to Martha Ledbetter Roland in Hannibal.
He was employed as a farm worker by Howard Bier.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Martha Jane,10, and Becky Sue,4; two sons, David,13, and Ronald,11; and a stepson, Raymond Roland,16.
He also leaves four brothers, Charles of Palmyra, O.R. of Perry, Carrol of Brunswick, Ga., and Simon of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Louise) Arndt of Farber and Mrs. John (Alberta) Neff of Brunswick, Ga.; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Ronald Webb
Graveside services for Ronald E. Webb, 43, of 319 W. 20th Ave., Milan, are 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grand View Cemetery, Hannibal, Mo.
There is no visitation. A memorial fund has been established.
Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Webb died Saturday at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport.
He was born July 11, 1947, in Hannibal.
He was a 1966 graduate of Rock Island High School.
He worked as a cook for a catering service in San Francisco until January 1990.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Christal, Milan; sisters, Martha J. Perry, LaPlata, Mo., and Beth Barnes, Matherville; brothers, Ray Roland, Blue Grass, Iowa, David Webb, Viola, and Terry Christal, Milan; and several nieces and nephews.

Martha Ledbetter Christal, 85, of Milan, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her home. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Monday at Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal, MO. Visitation will be from 2 – 5 PM Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Martha was born on October 17, 1926 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Isaac and Ethel Myers Ledbetter.
Martha married three times and had six children.
She worked as a waitress for many years at the Plantation restaurant, formerly of Moline.
Martha loved ceramics and her grandchildren.
She is survived by; her children, Ray (Liz Coffman) Roland, Rock Island, David (Edna) Webb, Rock Island, Martha (Jack) Perry, Spokane, WA, Becky Barnes, Rock Island, and Terry (Doris) Christal, Rock Island; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Taylor, Hannibal, MO.
Martha was preceded in death by her three husbands; parents; son, Ronnie Webb; 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Virginia M. Taylor, 77, of Hannibal, MO died at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, MO.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, MO.
There will be no visitation.
Virginia was born on January 26, 1935, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Isaac and Ethel Myers Dillon.
She was married in 1954 to Gordon R. Taylor. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2001.
Also preceding Mrs. Taylor in death were one son, Kelly Taylor, and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: Two sons, Garry Taylor and Jeff Taylor; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a waitress for many years. She retired from the Hannibal High School Cafeteria. In her retirement she had worked at the Mark Twain Cave. Virginia loved to be around people and enjoyed shopping and volunteering with the Hannibal Hospital Regional Auxiliary. Most of all she deeply cared for her kids and grandkids. Mrs. Taylor attended the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Luther Manor Van Fund or to the American Cancer Society in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
