I am researching the parents of my great great grandmother, Mary A. Murphy who was married in 1853 to James D Biggs and they lived in Canton, Missouri. He was a riverboat captain and born in 1824 and died young in 1862. Mary was born in Kentucky about 1828 to John and Nancy Murphy. Her husband James was born in Ohio about 1825. I have the Mary's parents names as:John and Nancy Murphy probably from Kentucky. My grandmother's maternal family What can you find out about John and Nancy Murphy?? I am also looking for a Samuel and Nancy (Winn) Clay also from Kentucky who are the parents of George Clay (1797-1858). My grandmothers paternal family. What can you tell me about Samuel and Nancy (Winn) Clay?? Both families eventually moved from Kentucky to Missouri in the early 1800s. At one point in the 1890s the two families lived across the street from each other in Canton, Mo. near Culver Stockton University where my grandparents met!! Thanks, Barb Rodenburg
