I’m not related to any member of this family. 1930 is the last available searchable census at this time. 1940 census has been released but it will take several months before the transcription is completed. Facts you should know about the early census records - All census records [1790 – 1840] prior to the 1850 census ONLY listed the head of household; whether male or female. NO specific age was stated for any family member NO place of birth was stated – city, state, or country NO city, town, or village is stated – only the county; however some census takers listed the township NO street address was stated NO marital status was stated – single, married, widowed, or divorced NO family relationship was stated – brother, sister, cousin, son, daughter, wife, inlaw, etc… NO occupation was stated NO parental birthplaces are stated NO race was stated [but assume “white”] 1850, 1860 & 1870 census records do not show family relationships, marital status or parental birthplaces. Step children are not enumerated as “step” children Adopted children are not enumerated as “adopted” Grand children are not enumerated as “grand children” Orphaned children were not enumerated as "orphan" 1850 is the 1st census that shows all family members 1880 is the 1st census that shows parental birthplaces +++ 1850 - Name: George Mcelewee [George McElwee] Age: 49 Birth Year: abt 1801 Birthplace: Virginia Home in 1850: District 16, Clinton, Missouri Gender: Male George Mcelewee 49, VA - farmer Nancy Mcelewee 25, KY George M D Mcelewee 16, VA William W Mcelewee 14, VA Sarah E Mcelewee 12, MO James A Mcelewee 11, MO Mary E Mcelewee 9, MO Margert C Mcelewee 6, MO John J Mcelewee 3, MO 1860 - Name: Geo Mcelwee [George McElwer] Age in 1860: 26 Birth Year: abt 1834 Birthplace: Virginia Home in 1860: Grand River, Carroll, Missouri Geo Mcelwee 26, VA Jane Mcelwee 25, MO [1835] Adda Mcelwee 3, MO 1870 - Name: Jane Mcilvey [note spelling] Age in 1870: 35 Birth Year: abt 1835 Birthplace: Missouri Home in 1870: Grand River, Carroll, Missouri Race: White Gender: Female Post Office: Carrollton Geo Mcilvey 36, VA - farmer Jane Mcilvey 35, MO Ada Mcilvey 13, MO Lucian Mcilvey 5, MO 1880 - Name: George Mcilwee Age: 47 Birth Year: abt 1833 Birthplace: Virginia Home in 1880: Grand River, Carroll, Missouri Race: White Gender: Male Relation to Head of House: Father-in-law Marital Status: Widower Father's Birthplace: Virginia Mother's Birthplace: Virginia Occupation: Farming Chas.
